This is my second MM by GingerGM, and I have to give this guy some amazing credits for finally making something for us club tournament players that dont have much time but still love the game and want to improve. I can really recommend this series! Run and buy!

9 out of 10! Great instruction and entertainment value! Like all MM Series videos, this 15 hour course features a split screen with the board on the left and the presenter on the right. The moves are not shown in writing but it is still easy for the viewer to follow along. GM Williams prefers attacking chess and in his enthusiastic engaging style he shows the viewer how to achieve good attacking patterns and tactics based on deliberately obtaining the isolated queen’s pawn. Therefore, this course is best for the club player wanting to achieve better tournament results and willing to take the time to learn how to use the IQP to advantage. GM Williams is an excellent presenter. He frequently engages the viewer to try and work out the best plan for the position before he demonstrates the correct winning idea. Also, he makes the course so much fun, it makes the viewer feel like they are having a chess game with him in England in a pub with a pint nearby. Extras in the course include PGN’s of the games, a Q & A video, puzzles and a written summary which help cement the knowledge. I also really appreciate how the chapters are broken down into descriptive, not just numbered, which makes it easy to pick up where I left off or find a specific topic fast. Only the price prevented me from giving this course 10 out of 10.

Simon William’s second master class is definitely more advanced than his first master method. While Simon has put together a lot of interesting material it is highly specific and may not apply directly to your games. There are two parts. The first parts shows examples of how the opening ties to the middle game. Simon shows how an isolated queen’s pawn leads to king side attacks in the middle game.He also shows how to achieve an isolated queen’s pawn in the opening. Unfortunately, achieving an isolated queen’s pawn is not guaranteed and requires cooperation from your opponent. Simon also presents the ideas behind the French defense and English defense. This is great if you play any of these openings as black. The second part of this master method goes into calculation and attack. The viewer should be forewarned that the positions Simon presents are extremely complex and for the advanced player.
