The Anna Rudolf Method – Smash The Barriers To Your Chess Success!

Basic Chess Strategy Lessons – The Anna Rudolf Method

Have you already succeeded at mastering all the aspects of basic chess strategy?

Many players seem to get stuck at a certain level, no matter how hard they train.

It’s like there’s an invisible barrier preventing them from reaching 1600, 1800 or 2000 Elo.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

IM Anna Rudolf (aka Miss Strategy) has found the solution. Instead of cramming your brain with endless amounts of new knowledge, we need to fix the 5 holes through which valuable rating points are always leaking.

Blunders, missing winning opportunities, failing to identify the strongest plan, underestimating your opponent’s strategy and fear/complacency. These are the real barriers holding you back.

The 15 hour Anna Rudolf Method teaches you how to solve these problems and achieve your potential by becoming a master of awareness, emotions and targeting weaknesses.

Is this course for me?

If you are a beginner player:

These basic chess strategy lessons by Anna Rudolf will help you learn how to choose opening systems that fit your style and build an effective opening repertoire. You’ll also learn what to in case that you have to play a position that’s completely unknown to you.

You’ll also be able to learn what’s needed for you to become a master of planning and also improve your strategic thinking process when playing chess.

These lessons will teach you how to always look to improve your pieces and worsen the opponent’s pieces with every move.

Anna has put a TON of work and research into discovering the 5 biggest barriers stopping most players reaching 2000 Elo and beyond. The Anna Rudolf Method then tells you how to turn these often undiagnosed weaknesses into game-winning strengths.

1. Banish blunders:

Blunders are the #1 rating killers. Whether you’re dropping pieces or overlooking positional mistakes, the root cause of blunders is the same. Anna reveals her technique for keeping total awareness at all times!

2. Take your chances:

Finding winning moves is much tougher in a real game than when solving tactics. Any would-be helper standing by your board shouting “Mate in 3!” would get kicked out! Discover how to search and destroy your target at the first opportunity.

3. Proven winning plans:

When you’re thinking what to play, the moves you see are affected by your plan. If you’re thinking about how to attack the kingside, you’ll probably miss the winning pawn break on the queenside.

Anna explains the ideas behind the most powerful attacking formations, positional strategies and endgame plans to make sure you’re always focused on the strongest moves.

4. One step ahead:

If you’re thinking about what you’re trying to achieve and ignoring your opponent’s plans, you’re going to get a nasty shock. Instead, learn how to read your rival’s plans and use it against them!

5. Competitive success:

It’s no good being a great chess player if you fall apart when it counts. A huge percentage of games are lost due to either complacency or irrational fear. Learn how to combine a burning desire to win with ice cool compsure to become the ultimate competitor.

This course is fantastic. The content and presentation are top notch, as are the production values. I’ve purchased a number of courses from iChess; hands down, Ms. Rudolf’s course offers more value than the other courses I’ve purchased. Most of the iChess courses I have experienced take the form of annotated games. While I find annotated games instructive, it is generally an ineffective format to introduce new, unrelated concepts. Playing thru an opening with multiple variations and part of a middle game to finally arrive at the topic at hand creates too much cognitive overhead. Plus the approach takes so much time that the key concepts seldom see sufficient repetition or variety.

In contrast, Ms. Rudolf’s course follows a more instructionally sound approach. She breaks important concepts into basic elements, then combines these elements into more and more complex themes. Important positions from actual games are repeated to help the viewer contextualize the important factors in the position. The course also employs active learning; each module contains many problems for the viewer to solve. And the supplemental materials (checklists, etc.) are valuable. I hope this course serves as a model for future iChess offerings.

Her voice is clear with an endearing accent. And her passion and enthusiasm for chess make the course enjoyable to watch.

A few minor nits. Many of the modules are in the 60 to 90 minute range. I wish these were broken into smaller (30 min) segments. When I have to pick up a module at a later date, it’s hard to find where I left off. Sometimes she gets so excited that she speaks very rapidly – too quickly for me to understand. Slowing down the playback speed in my viewer helps. Finally, I think the endgame modules are not as strong, nor deep as the rest of the course.

    Highly recommended.

I agree totally with Rick’s review of Anna’s Course. I watch in 30 min segments at a time which helps. I look forward to more courses from her in the near future.

This series is well done. I’m your average rated chess Dad that has been looking for a way to improve my skill and help teach my son how to improve his game. This series gives insight as to HOW to think and evaluate a position. I am currently in the process of retraining my brain to evaluate the position before calculating so I know where to start my calculations. I can defiantly see how this will help, and I’m glad I’m getting to teach my son the correct way to evaluate a position and calculate now, so he will not have to retrain his methods like I’m doing today. Thank you ichess, and thank you Anna.

I like Ms. Rudolf’s whole approach to teaching chess . She just does not analyse games ,but tries to instill the most productive methods and attitudes of approaching the chess playing experience.

Omigod this series is soooooo good you’ll probably wish you paid more. I am not kidding! Anyone who knows Anna knows she puts her heart and soul into everything she does, and this is certainly no exception. She really put a lot of GREAT material, and as someone who has consumed probably hundreds of hours of chess videos over the past several years, I can honestly say these are among the very best — top 1% for sure! What I liked is that the coursework is laid out very logically and she asks you to do focused exercises and homework which helps you build your skill and “stair step” towards progress. I especially appreciated the section on openings and selecting the opening for the type of chess you enjoy playing – not every opening is well-suited to a “checkmate” style of play and personally I dislike drawn-out endgames. I’m a positional player, like Anna. She helped me understand how to find the opening that suits me, and how to improve my game through analysis. I’ve also been watching her lessons with John Urschel and those also help with the type of analysis and critical thinking required to improve play. I will sometimes hear Anna in the back of my mind saying “STAY ALERT!” when I’m in the middle of tournament play. This was a very worthwhile purchase, and honestly I think she should raise the price!

This series is well-produced and focused on areas that most club players will find useful for improvement. Specifically, she covers topics such has how to learn openings effectively, how to build an opening repertoire, how to decide what to do in positions that are new to you, how to develop plans, typical attacking plans and tactical motifs, and (probably one of her favorite topics) how to improve your endgame play. The audience that will get the most from this course are those in the 1200-1900 rating range (most average club players), as it covers topics that will most likely be weak areas for them. If you are an average club player looking to improve, this series will set you on the right path.

Not only is Anna Rudolf a pretty woman to look at, in this course she also proves to have teaching skills. It is really a joy to listen to her, how she explains chess, how to build up, what to avoid, what to pay attention for, etc…
She also has a pleasure in her teaching, which makes it very pleasant to listen to.
I really learned a lot of her, even basic things I used to do wrong, I no longer do wrong, because of Anna. Thank you for this, Anna!

Don’t let Anna’s youth or super-cuteness trick you into thinking that this course is not worth it. Anna covers topics in the areas of the opening, middlegame and endgame, and she delivers the content in a lively style and discusses key things like building a repertoire, planning, strategic thinking, attacking, tactics, giving us insight into how masters think in a different way about chess than do non-masters. There are breakout sessions where Anna discusses key theoretical points to consider. e.g. in the area of position evaluation she discusses, material count, imbalances, king safety (or activity in the endgame), and piece activity.

I would highly recommend this course as being interesting and informative, and that every beginner or intermediate player can find useful.

This course is the perfect foundation for anybody who has progressed beyond the beginner phase. Whether you are only a little stronger than a beginner or a pretty decent club player this course will help you take your play up a notch. I believe if you give yourself time to practice what you learn from Anna and apply this wisdom to your games over several months you will become a very strong player and cause a lot of upsets in tournaments. One day I hope to own a chess board and look forward to following her recommendation of playing through openings and games with the board. My IM friend is a chess coach and has mentioned some of his students have difficulties adjusting from the computer to a chess board.
