Catalan Opening – VECO

Catalan Chess OpeningThe Catalan Opening commonly occurs with the moves 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.g3, although there are many move orders that reach the same position (see the position on the left).

White adopts a combination of the Queen’s Gambit and Réti Opening.

The Catalan was used by Vladimir Kramnik during his World Chess Championship matches and is generally seen as a safe way for White to get a small advantage.
