NM Stewart vs GM Ray Robson – Guest Analysis by GM Joel Benjamin (ICC)

Analysis
Left: NM Stewart, Right: GM Robson

I‘m proud to say that my game at the Las Vegas Chess Festival against Ray Robson was featured this week by ICC as the Game of the Week. They were kind enough to give me permission to repost the analysis on my channel so all you fans can watch it for free. As many of you know I’ve been hitting the tournaments pretty hard this month with mostly very good results. At the Las Vegas Chess Festival I scored a 4.5/6 including a stunning upset win against GM Ray Robson rated 400 points higher than me.

Game Summary

At same point young players go from the hunters to the hunted. There was a great example of that in the Las Vegas National Open, when teenage GM Ray Robson went down to a unheard player: William John Stewart. Stewart, a former Georgia State High School Champion, played with great vigor and determination. Robson, like many high rated players, missed to realize the danger until it was too late. Let’s have a look at this remarkable upset, with the always interesting and precise analysis by GM Benjamin.
