Excellent material and explanations, minor glitches

I like this course and I would recommend it to anybody around 2000. If significantly lower rated, you will probably have to stop the video quite a lot to follow. Just right for me. However, I have a few issues: 1. Sometimes, the sound quality is somewhat poor. 2. Sam at several points refers to ´the material provided´, e.g. to look up the rest of a certain game. However, the games are not always included in the pgn - e.g. Gashimov - Bacrot starts at the critical position and only shows six moves. No chance to be enchanted by the promised nice endgame technique. 3. The variations given by Sam are not included in the pgns, and in at least one case Sam´s prefered variation seems to be suboptimal and the optimal one (and pretty easy to calculate) gets discarded in Kasparov - Kramnik, where after 17. Be5 Be7 18. Bxc7 Nxc7 19.Nd6 Kf8 20. Nxb7 Nd5 21.Nxd8 Bxd8 22.c4 Ba5 23.Re5 is much easier and clearer than 18.Bxg7 (which, of course, should be winning as well). A bit of a pity, since other than that Sam´s excellent collection of positions and clear teaching method would definitely deserve five stars.

Excellent - but like an express train

Impressively deep analysis of all kinds of positional play and possible tactical tricks. But Sam - if you do another course - slow down your explanations by 20% please! We haven’t all got your lightning brain.

Very useful, and a must

Master Method for studens of ratings over ratings over 2000

I'm not qualified to rate this Collection, I'm a student in the 1600 ratings. I'm in the process of learning how to visualize the chess squares and pieces on the board, in the explanations Sam quickly goes over several moves which you need to visualize (this is a new process which is hard for me at this time.) I'll need months to view all the videos and see the results in my games to for a fair review of the Master Method. For now this method is too advanced for me.

Sam took a very different appr

Sam took a very different approach to teaching chess by first going through tactical opening blunders from the Grunfeld. He then explained the defense. I think this was a very good approach and I feel that it has helped my game! Calvin

How can I benefit from this?

In each of the 55 chapters, GM Shankland examines an instructive, dynamic game, revealing why and how the winner was able to create chances and convert them into victory.

Sam asks us to consider one question: if we have a strategic or tactical aim but our opponent seems to be preventing it, what happens if we play it anyway?

It’s this consideration that allows us to put maximum pressure on our opponents and opens up a new world of creative possibilities at the board.

Sam has carefully selected the games so that most of them should be new to you, even though they feature some of the biggest names in the game, including Carlsen, Anand, Topalov, Kasparov, and Aronian.

Of course, Sam includes plenty of his own games too – losses as well as wins – revealing the secrets he has found in his analysis.

Here’s what you get with this super collection:

The Shankland Method:

This mindset-altering training teaches you how to think like peak Kasparov, relentlessly advancing with dynamic shots until your rival finds themselves pushed off the board.

Tactics & Calculation for the Ambitious player:

Sam’s second Method is the calculation training you always wanted but could never find. GM tactics explained so clearly you’ll never forget them.
